Warm rains melted the existing snowpack flooding Carson Valley.

Description:
Precipitation at the National Weather Service (NWS) Woodfords, Calif., and Minden, Nev., gages indicate significant precipitation recorded between January 9 and January 18, 1980. The Woodfords precipitation gage recorded a total of 8.5 inches for this period, and around 2 inches at the Minden gage. This period was also recorded as having unseasonably warm air temperatures.
