Available Flood Information:

Warm rains following a substantial build-up of mountain snowpack earlier in the season produced flood conditions in Carson Valley.

Type of event: rain/rain-on-snow

Description:
Precipitation at the National Weather Service (NWS) Woodfords, Calif., and Minden, Nev., gages indicate significant precipitation recorded for November and December 1981. Precipitation totals at the NWS Woodfords gage exceeded 3 inches from February 15 to the 16th, suggesting a rain-on snow event by the warm temperatures recorded during this period.
