Carson River Basin
March 1938
Rainand later Snow Event
The flood period began with heavy rains on March 11 and continued through March 13, 1938, though rain turned to snow on the 12th. The National Weather Service Minden precipitation gage reported 1.05 inches over this three day period (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1973). The rapid rise of the East Fork Carson River during the period of rain caused some damage to a temporary highway bridge. Flooding along Pine Nut Creek caused damaged to nearby ranches.
